Which car seat? Safety test results

This week I have been doing some research on car seats for my dear children. Eeny meeny mini moe…. Which car seat to choose?? So many out there!

We all know how important a good, safe & well functioning car seat is when it comes to even the most minuscule of road traffic collisions.

German independent Consumer Watchdog “Stiftung Warentest” has tested over 270 different car seats for babies and toddlers over the past 7 years.

The good news is, that most of the tested car seats were of an acceptable quality. However, there are a few brands, that stand out due to their high quality & a few that have a notable lack of quality.

“Stiftung Warentest's” test was based on 3 main criteria:

1.Accident- Safety,

2.Harmful Substances in fabric and seat belts

3.Handling & Ergonomics

Here are some of the results! I focused on high- & low- flyers!

Newborn up to 13 kg- test winners:

Recaro Privia with Isofix (1.3).

Römer Baby Safe Plus with Isofix (1,4)

Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SL with Isofix (1,5).

Cybex Aton 2 with Isofix (1,6)

Newborn up to 18kg – test winners:

Smaller and older children (9-36kg)

Kiddy Guardian Pro 2 (1,8)

Cybex Pallas 2-fix Isofix (1,9)

Recaro Monza Nova IS IsofixGUT (2,0).

Great to know, that none of the tested car seats had too much of a presence of harmful substances in the fabrics etc.
